Combating Rising Energy Costs
Missouri's electric rates have historically been slightly below the national average but are increasing at a rapid pace. Utilities are calling for big investments over the next 15 years signaling surges in electric costs coming to Missouri ratepayers.
22 states allow full or partial competition with the electric utilities on the generation and sale of electricity and House Bill 2070, sponsored by Rep. Don Mayhew, would open Missouri's energy market to competition.
